Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, have neutralised at least 61 ISWAP terrorists during a failed infiltration attempt in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
The insurgents reportedly launched the attack in the early hours of Wednesday, advancing on foot and deploying armed drones in a bid to breach the defences of troops at the 68 Battalion position.

Security sources said the assault, which approached through the Bravo Company frontage from the Duguri axis, was met with overwhelming firepower and coordinated resistance from ground troops backed by air support.

During the engagement, troops executed precision strikes and sustained fire, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers.
“Our forces carried out four highly effective air interdiction strikes on enemy positions, decimating their combat strength. The synergy between air and ground forces denied them freedom of movement and forced a chaotic withdrawal,” a source said.
The fleeing insurgents were pushed towards the Arege area under continued pressure, with additional support from allied Nigerien air assets further intensifying the offensive.
Meanwhile, four soldiers sustained minor injuries during the operation and have been stabilised, as battle damage assessment from follow-up strikes continues.
