Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a late-night assault launched by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at a military base in Limankara, along the Gwoza road in Borno State.
The foiled attack, which occurred at about 12:10 a.m. on Friday, July 25, targeted the Alpha Company position under the 28 Task Force Brigade. The development was disclosed by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his official X account on Saturday.
According to the report, the insurgents attempted to breach the military post but met stiff resistance from Nigerian troops, who engaged them in a fierce gun battle. The terrorists were eventually forced to flee the area after suffering unspecified casualties.

Unfortunately, one soldier lost his life during the exchange, while another sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the 23 Brigade Medical Centre.
Recovered from the fleeing terrorists were key combat items including two Baofeng radios, one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) charger, four empty magazines, and one AK-47 magazine loaded with ammunition.
Though the exact number of enemy casualties could not be verified, military sources confirmed that troops have launched pursuit operations and remain in firm control of the area.
Security personnel described the general atmosphere as calm but still unpredictable, with troops maintaining heightened vigilance across the region.
