Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims in Taraba State during a coordinated operation targeting criminal enclaves.

The victims, who were abducted on August 3, 2025, along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari Road, were rescued during a two-day military offensive carried out on August 5 and 6.

According to military sources, the operation began with a raid on Chinkai Forest, where four of the victims were located unharmed on the first day. The remaining three victims, all women, were rescued the following day in Owedi community, Wukari Local Government Area.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who confirmed the development, noted that the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled the scene after encountering overwhelming firepower from the advancing troops.

Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their courage and swift response, describing the operation as a major step forward in the fight against kidnapping in the region.

He further assured that the military will continue to sustain pressure on criminal elements across Taraba State to ensure lasting peace and security.

Police Arrest Mentally Unstable Man Wielding Machete in Abia

Officers of the Nigerian Police Force, Abia State Command, have apprehended a young man who was seen roaming the streets of Umuahia while violently charging at residents with a machete.

The arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned resident and founder of ABN TV, Ifeanyi Okali, who alerted officers at the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia after observing the young man’s erratic and threatening behaviour.
