Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, have successfully rescued six kidnap victims, including a baby, in Taraba State.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday as part of the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, a security initiative aimed at flushing out criminal elements and restoring peace in the region.

According to Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the victims had been abducted on October 2 when suspected kidnappers ambushed a Toyota Carina II traveling from Katsina-Ala in Benue State. The attackers reportedly forced the car to stop near an abandoned checkpoint before taking the passengers into the bush.

Based on credible intelligence, troops and police personnel launched a joint search-and-rescue mission. Their swift response led to the safe recovery of all six hostages, including the driver and five passengers.

The rescued victims were identified as a baby, Mr. Terna Gbaya, Mr. Musa Adamu, Mrs. Rose Sor, Mrs. Lydia Vyiashima, and Mrs. Comfort Iyofar. They have since been reunited with their families.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the professionalism and dedication of the troops and police involved in the operation. He reassured residents of the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Taraba State.

He also encouraged community members to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information that could help in ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the area.
