Troost-Ekong Reveals Toughest Career Decision

William Troost-Ekong has opened up on his move to Serie A club, Salernitana from Watford.

The Nigerian Captain ended his three-year journey with the Hornets during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old returned to a familiar terrain after a previous spell with Udinese.

He played a major role in Watford’s promotion to the Premier League in his first season but lost his place in the squad after returning from the Africa Nations Cup early last year.

The centre-back stated that leaving Vicarage Road was not an easy one for him.

He said;

“This was the hardest choice I’ve had to make in my career,” Troost-Ekong told The Athletic.

“Every time I’ve had a great opportunity to go to a club, which was a progression in my career, it’s always been a no-brainer.

“But it was a difficult choice because I feel invested at Watford and I wanted to be part of the squad again to get promoted — I know what that felt like.”

Troost-Ekong made his debut for Salernitana in a 2-1 win against Leece last week.
