Twenty-four out of the thirty-two lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly have officially signed a notice to begin the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex was greeted with chaos as plots to impeach Fubara heightened.
The complex was first gutted by fire on Sunday night before being greeted by gunshots by police operatives.
Fubara was also assaulted by police officers who tried dispersing the governor and his supporters with water and teargas.

Going by the development, the Rivers State governor is scheduled to face impeachment proceedings today.
The House of Assembly is now diligently preparing to transmit the impeachment notice to the State Chief Judge.
Once received, the Chief Judge will establish a judicial panel to thoroughly investigate the allegations brought against Fubara.
The governor is accused of acts of gross misconduct unbecoming of his office.
