Truck Driver Kills Many in Lagos | Daily Report Nigeria

A devastating accident occurred on Friday at the busy Agbara Bus stop along the Lagos Badagry expressway, leaving multiple fatalities and injuries.

A hit-and-run truck driver lost control of his vehicle, ramming into a bus carrying students who had just finished their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination, as well as several other commuters and motorists.

According to eyewitnesses, the trailer, carrying goats, went berserk and crushed the bus, killing several students and injuring many others. The students had reportedly chartered the bus to celebrate the completion of their exams.

The driver, who attempted to flee the scene, continued his destructive path, hitting multiple vehicles and pedestrians, including other students waiting at a bus stop.

Witnesses described the horrific scene, with at least four persons pulled out of the vehicle dead, and others still trapped in the wreckage.

The truck driver’s rampage continued, causing chaos and destruction at Magbon and Oko Afor bus stops, crushing several cars and a fully loaded 18-seater bus.

He was eventually stopped by customs officers and okada riders who had been in hot pursuit.

The driver’s attempt to evade arrest was thwarted when men of the Nigeria Customs Border Drill at Elijah bus stop suspected his strange behavior and stopped him. The okada riders then apprehended him, bringing an end to the massacre.

Meanwhile, the exact number of casualties is yet to be ascertained, but the incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

Sources added that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
