Several people have reportedly lost their lives while many others sustained injuries following a tragic truck brake failure accident in Ibadan on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The fatal crash occurred around the busy Oja’ba to Béèrè roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State, after a truck reportedly lost control and rammed into multiple public transport vehicles.
Eyewitnesses said the Ibadan truck accident happened suddenly when a heavily loaded truck approaching the roundabout allegedly suffered brake failure.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into several commercial buses and other vehicles that were around the busy junction at the time.
Some people at the scene said the impact of the collision caused panic as passengers and bystanders rushed to help victims trapped inside the damaged vehicles.
A video currently circulating online shows a chaotic scene, with sympathisers and residents gathering around the accident spot. While some people were seen trying to assist the injured, others stood in shock as the situation unfolded.
One witness at the scene described the moment the crash occurred.
“The truck was coming down fast and suddenly it could not stop. It just ran into the buses at the roundabout. People started shouting and running,” the eyewitness said.
Another resident who arrived shortly after the crash said many victims appeared seriously injured.
“It was a terrible sight. Some people were crying while others were trying to pull victims out of the vehicles,” the resident added.
As of the time this report was filed, officials of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) had not released an official statement confirming the number of people killed or injured in the Ibadan brake failure accident.
Rescue efforts were reportedly ongoing as good Samaritans and emergency responders worked to evacuate victims and clear the wrecked vehicles from the road.
Road accidents have continued to raise concern across Nigeria, with many incidents often linked to mechanical faults, poor vehicle maintenance, reckless driving, and weak road safety enforcement.
Stakeholders have repeatedly called for stricter driver training, better vehicle inspection, and stronger government regulation to reduce the growing number of road crashes across the country.
