Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused Harvard of promoting anti-American and pro-Hamas ideologies.
The Trump administration has revoked over $2.7 million in federal funding from Harvard University and warned it may strip the university’s ability to enroll international students.
This action follows what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) describes as Harvard’s refusal to comply with federal demands seen as essential to national interests.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem accused the Ivy League institution of cultivating a “hostile learning environment” for Jewish students and enabling “anti-American and pro-Hamas ideologies” on campus.

“This type of academic environment poses a national security threat,” Noem stated, citing the university’s handling of protests and student activism related to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Among the cuts is a $1.9 million violence prevention grant, along with another grant for a study DHS labeled as biased. Visas for certain international students linked to pro-Palestinian protests have reportedly been revoked.
Despite the pressure, Harvard’s leadership remains defiant, pledging to maintain its institutional independence while continuing to fight antisemitism on campus.
