US vows to stop any attempt to bar Israel from World Cup
Former US President Donald Trump’s administration has vowed to block any move to ban Israel from participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This comes as UEFA prepares to vote next week on suspending Israel from all competitions over the ongoing war in Gaza. FIFA has yet to decide whether it will back UEFA’s position.

“We will absolutely work to fully stop any effort to attempt to ban Israel’s national soccer team from the World Cup,” the official said.
Israel has already played five qualifying matches and remains in contention for a slot at the 2026 tournament, though the country has not reached a World Cup finals since 1970.
The development signals an impending clash between politics and sport, with global attention now shifting to FIFA’s response.
