Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, threatening to suspend all American aid to Nigeria if the federal government fails to stop the ongoing killings of Christians across the country.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Trump accused the Nigerian government of turning a blind eye to what he called the “systematic killing of Christians” by radical Islamist groups.

He wrote:“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

Trump’s remarks have sparked intense debate among global observers, with many describing his comments as unusually direct and confrontational.

The former president further recalled that during his tenure, Nigeria was designated as a “country of particular concern” over religious freedom violations — a move aimed at highlighting what Washington viewed as the persecution of Christians in the West African nation.

He also urged the U.S. Congress to open an immediate investigation into the “mass killings” of Christians, insisting that the world’s leading democracy must not remain silent while “Christianity faces an existential threat in Nigeria.”

According to Trump, “America will not stand by while Christians in Nigeria and other parts of the world face persecution,” adding that the U.S. remains “ready to defend Christian populations globally.”
