Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has hinted that the TUC might reconsider its demand for a minimum wage of N494,000 from the Federal Government.

Osifo made the hint when he appeared on Channels Television’s May 29 special program, marking the first anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He revealed that Nigerian workers are struggling and that the current negotiation is a give-and-take process.

Osifo reiterated the Union’s ultimatum issued on May 1, stating that if the government fails to meet their demands by May 31, they can no longer guarantee industrial peace.

Recall that the Federal Government recently increased its proposed minimum wage from N57,000 to N60,000, but the TUC remained firm on its demand.

The TUC President criticized the government’s approach, calling it “unserious” and stressing the need for a more serious conversation to resolve the issue.
