Its owner, Elon Musk had a controversial decision to switch up the platform’s verification system a few days ago.
Musk eventually removed the ‘legacy’ blue ticks from verified accounts.

However, Twitter allowed account holders to retrieve the verification legacy with an $8 monthly payment to subscribe to its Twitter Blue.
The subscription fee also included those who want to get the blue tick new.
Additionally, Twitter insisted that businesses must now pay for a gold tick.
Musk, had earlier in the month tweeted that the “Final date for removing legacy blue checks is April 20.”
This was part of Musk’s efforts to get rid of the supposed “lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark.”
