Tragedy struck on Saturday, August 30, when a fatal motor accident claimed two lives along the Benin-Auchi road, shortly after the Egba community in Uhuwonde Local Government Area of Edo State.
The incident occurred when an SUV heading towards Auchi dangerously overtook another vehicle and collided with an oncoming commercial minibus.

Governor Monday Okpebholo, who arrived at the scene during the rescue, immediately intervened after finding several victims in critical condition. The governor reportedly ordered two of his security Hilux vehicles to be used for emergency transport.
Giving an update to journalists in Benin City on Monday, the Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, confirmed the casualties. “Two persons lost their lives while five others sustained various degrees of injuries,” he said.
Mathew explained that the crash was caused by wrongful overtaking, noting that among the injured were “four adult males and a female.”
He further stated that the survivors are currently receiving treatment in hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary.
Airtel Network Mast Gutted By Fire In Ilorin
An Airtel network mast in the Osin-Okete area of Osin, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, was on Monday engulfed by fire.
The incident occurred around 1:27 p.m., according to a statement released by the spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, in Ilorin.
