Two Varsity Students Abducted as Gunmen Attack Nasarawa Community | Daily Report Nigeria
Gunmen have attacked the Mararaba Akunza community of Nasarawa state, kidnapping two students of the Federal University, Lafia.

Confirming the incident, Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson of the state’s police command, said the chief security officer at the Varsity reached out to report the abduction at noon on Sunday.

Previous reports claimed that four students were abducted durring the attack and that the abductors have made contact with the family of the victims on Saturday night, demanding N25 million ransom.

Speaking, Nansel said: “Four students were not kidnapped. The details are still sketchy.

“At 12 pm, the chief security officer at FU Lafia came through the kidnapping unit of the Nasarawa state police.

“He said, at about 7:15 pm yesterday while it was raining heavily, they heard sporadic gunshots. They said the gunmen later left. Nobody reported to the police. It was today they went back to the area to make findings.

“They later heard that two of their students were abducted. Since we got the report, we’ve swung into action. The investigation has since commenced. That is the information available now. Just two people, not four.

“Series of actions have been taken since our investigations commenced. For security reasons, we cannot disclose those now. Once the investigation is concluded, the press will be informed.”
