A deadly attack has left residents of Tudun Yola in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State in shock after two women — Hauwa’u Yakubu and Zahra’u Aliyu — were murdered by unidentified assailants who also set their home ablaze.
The victims, both wives of Alhaji Ashiru Shu’aibu Usaini, were reportedly attacked on Wednesday around noon while their husband and children were at work.

According to the deceased women’s stepson, Anas Shu’aibu, the family only discovered the tragedy later that night when the husband called for assistance. “When we got there, we found the burnt body of one of them while the other was stuck in the bathroom. When we finally managed to break down the door, we found her dead as well,” he said.

He added that they initially believed the deaths resulted from a normal fire outbreak, but subsequent findings indicated a deliberate, targeted attack.
The grieving husband, Alhaji Ashiru, lamented that his wives were killed before one of their bodies was set on fire. “I still don’t know why they carried out this wicked act,” he said, urging security agencies to identify those responsible.
Spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation has commenced to uncover the assailants and establish the motive behind the killings.
