This comes after Frank Warren and Bob Arum, the Gypsy King’s trans-Atlantic promotional partners, won Friday’s purse bid in Mexico City with a $42 million dollar offer.

Purse bids for the all-British clash have been postponed four times this month, with a final deadline of 6 p.m. [GMT] tonight.

The winning bid also saves Team Fury the total of £20.5 million they were willing to pay Anthony Joshua and Whyte to step aside so that the Gypsy King could fight AJ conqueror Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed world heavyweight championship.

Wembley, Cardiff, and Fury’s hometown of Manchester – possibly Old Trafford – are all in contention to host his fight with Whyte.

Warren said that discussions broke down when Joshua’suddenly sought an extra £5 million on top of his promised £15 million to stand aside,’ rejecting Hearn’s allegation that Fury had backed out of facing Usyk first and foremost.

Fury slammed Joshua and Hearn as “the worst businessmen in the world” as a result.

Whyte stands to suffer monetarily as well, since the WBC has mandated a purse split of 80 to 20 percent in favor of Fury as champion.
