U-20 AFCON: Can Flying Eagles stop free-scoring Gambia side

Seven-time champions, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria will face thier biggest challenge when they go head to head with Gambia in a semi-final clash at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations today.

The encounter is slated for the Cario International Stadium and it promises to be an interesting game.

The Gambians, who won bronze medal at the last edition of the competition hosted by Mauritania will look to improve on that, after wining have won four matches in Egypt already.

Abdoulie Bojang’s side have also scored nine goals without conceding.

The Young Scorpions were at their best demolishing debutants South Sudan 5-0 in their quarter-final fixture last Thursday.

The Flying Eagles as well started the competition on a poor start going down to a 1-0 defeat against the Cubs of Senegal.

Ladan Bosso’s side have since recovered to win their next group games against Egypt, Mozambique and Uganda.

The team’s strength lies in their strong defence but goal scoring has been a challenge for them.

The Flying Eagles have scored a paltry four goals in four games and will need to improve on that if they are to seal a place in the final.
