Insists focus remains on governance, insecurity and development in Kaduna
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has categorically rejected suggestions that he remains under the political shadow of his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, stressing that his true mentors are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late human rights icon, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Governor Sani was pressed to respond to recent remarks by El-Rufai, who had described him as a mentee.
He swiftly deflected the suggestion, noting that his loyalty is anchored in delivering governance and development rather than submitting to political godfatherism.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to respond to that comment, because for me, I feel it is something that I have no time to correspond to,” Governor Sani stated.
He added that his respect and guidance stem from Tinubu, whom he first encountered in 1994, and Fawehinmi, whom he described as a father figure during his years of activism.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I met him in 1994, and I still regard him as my leader. Chief Gani Fawehinmi for me is a leader and a father. During the era of struggle, I lived in his house,” he explained.

The governor refused to be drawn into direct commentary on El-Rufai, insisting that his attention is firmly placed on Kaduna’s challenges.
“I will not comment [on El-Rufai], but what I can say here is that I’m focusing on Kaduna. I don’t talk about individuals. My focus is Kaduna, and I don’t get distracted. My eyes are on the board,” he emphasised.
Governor Sani reinforced that his immediate priorities are addressing insecurity, strengthening development initiatives, and keeping his administration free from distractions posed by personal rivalries or political score-settling.
