Union of European Football Associations, UEFA has announced punishment for Manchester United.

Ralph Rangnick’s side are to pay a fine of €10,000 following invasion of three fans at the Old Trafford pitch amidst the club’s Champions League tie against Young Boys in December.

UEFA revealed this ahead of the Red Devils’ clash with Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

The match which was essentially a dead rubber, ended in a 1-1 draw.

Three United supporters managed to elude security and entered the pitch during the game.

Mason Greenwood found his name on the score-sheet as he netted the first goal of the match in the ninth minute.

However, Fabian Rieder from Young Boys grabbed the leveller three minutes before half-time.

Rangnick’s citizens will now be travelling to Wanda Metropolitano Stadium to go toe-to-toe with Diego Simeone’s side in the last-16, on the 23rd of February.

United will hope to win the trophy for the first time since 2008 when they beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties in the final match.

Otherwise, they will want to reach atleast the semi-final stage after last doing so in 2011 when Barcelona overcame them in a 3-1 victory.
