Aloy Ejimakor, legal counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has condemned the British government for its perceived inaction regarding Kanu’s case.

His remarks follow the Nigerian government’s recent decision to drop all money laundering charges against Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of Binance Holdings Limited, citing diplomatic reasons.

Ejimakor expressed his frustration on social media, stating, “The UK government’s failure to apply similar diplomatic efforts to #FreeMNK makes it appear weak and complicit.”

He called on the UK to engage in diplomatic channels to secure Kanu’s release, emphasizing the inconsistency in the treatment of Nigerian citizens compared to foreign nationals.

In a related development, the Abuja Federal High Court has issued a warning to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, for obstructing Kanu’s access to his legal team.

The court’s Notice of Consequences threatened imprisonment if the DSS fails to comply with its earlier ruling, which mandated regular access for Kanu’s lawyers.

Ejimakor stated, “This Notice serves as a warning against disobeying court orders. If the DSS DG continues this path, we will initiate contempt proceedings against him.”

He emphasised the seriousness of the court’s directive, highlighting the implications of its violation.
