  • Social media erupts as Nigerians blast Badenoch’s immigration stance

The Presidency has slammed UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, demanding she be sent back to Nigeria for “re-education in citizenship,” following her controversial comments about Nigerian law and her push for tougher immigration policies.

In a statement on Monday, Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, described Badenoch as a liar and a “lost daughter” who owes her country an apology.

“Kemi Badenoch lied. She owes her fatherland an apology. Britain should send our lost daughter Kemi Badenoch home for proper re-education,” Onanuga said in a post on X.

The backlash came after Badenoch claimed in a CNN interview on Sunday that her children were not Nigerian citizens because she is a woman. She also vowed to spearhead legislation that would make it harder for Nigerians to migrate to the UK and acquire British citizenship.

Referencing Nigeria’s Constitution, Onanuga stated that Section 25 clearly defines who has a right to Nigerian citizenship, dismissing Badenoch’s claim as baseless.

“Thanks to Shola Shogbamimu for enlightening the Tory politician. Our constitution does not discriminate in the way she portrayed,” he added, supporting a viral post that branded Badenoch a “political prostitute.”

Nigerians on social media have also slammed Badenoch for her position on immigration, accusing her of hypocrisy and betrayal of her heritage.
