A senior lecturer in the Department of English and Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Benin, Edo State has allegedly raped a 400-Level student in his office.
The accused lecturer identified as Dr. Bode Okundayo reportedly carried out the act while the final year student visited his office to sort out her project papers with him.
Dr Okundayo, who is the project supervisor of the victim, forcefully had carnal knowledge of the student and locked her up for hours afterwards.

The victim was able to contact a friend, who led security guards to the office of the lecturer and apprehended him.
According to a course mate of the victim, the incident which occured on Tuesday October 5, only became public after a video of the lecturer begging for forgiveness went viral.
“The news of the incident was first reported on our class WhatsApp group. A video was posted which showed the lecturer pleading for forgiveness and regretting his action.
“The lady was able to contact an unnamed friend, who with UNIBEN’s security operatives, rescued her. The lecturer was arrested by UNIBEN’s security officials, taken to the university’s administrative block and questioned.”
The administration of the school was yet to comment on the incident as of press time.
