The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Edo state, Prof Yinka Omorogbe, has revealed that Miss Uwa Omozuwa, the 22-year-old student of the University of Benin who was was raped and murdered indeed, died a virgin.
Prof Yinka who was was reacting to reports making the rounds on social media that a suspect arrested in connection with Uwa’s case had confessed that he perpetrated the act as an assignment by the pastor of the Redeem church she was alleged to be pregnant for.

The Attoney-General disclosed this while witnessing a protest organised by members of the Edo Women Development Initiatives, marching to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council.

Prof Omorogbe emphasized that the news of Uwa being pregnant for the said pastor did cause a whole lot of anguish to her family, a situation they referred to as terrible news.
She decried that only God knows how the story of Uwa having a boyfriend or being pregnant for a pastor came about after an autopsy clearly stated that she was indeed a virgin and was never pregnant before the rape act.
Uwa was raped and murdered in a church where she went to study on May 27, 2020 and her death spared outrage across the country.
Omorogbe while averring that can be wholely uprooted from the present day society if perpetrators were given strict judgement, solicited for a stronger partnership from the mainstream media.
The Chairperson of the Edo Women Development Initiatives, Mrs Roseline Okosun, while speaking, described the rise in rape cases as worrisome.
Also speaking was Stella Ojeme, a member of the Federation of International Women Lawyers, who stated that the culture of silence is the most likely reason for the recent incessant increase in rape cases
