Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo attributes the team’s success at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to unity among the players.

Despite facing challenges leading up to the competition, including low expectations, the team managed to reach the final, where they narrowly lost to host nation Cote d’Ivoire with a score of 2-1.

Omeruo emphasizes the determination and strong bond among the players as key factors that enabled them to surpass expectations and perform well in the tournament.

“I am especially proud of Stanley Nwabali, how he was able to come into the team and show his qualities,” Omeruo told Arise TV.

“The team believes in itself, and knows it can perform better. I hoped that we would win gold at the 2023 AFCON, nonetheless, our eyes are on AFCON 2025.”
