Securtiy operatives have confirmed 30 persons dead from Friday’s attack on Governor Babagana Zulum’s convey by Boko Haram terrorists on Friday.

According to AFP, fatalities from the attack had doubled as more bodies were found comprosing of 12 policemen, five soldiers, four members of a government-sponsored militia, and nine civilians.

“The tally has increased to 30 as many bodies were picked in the surrounding areas after the attack,” one of the sources said, adding that “many people were injured”.

Daily Report Nigeria had earlier reported that an ambush on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, at least 5 persons dead.

The convoy of the Borno state governor’ was waylaid between Monguno and Baga areas of the state.

Governor Babagana Zulum narrowly escaped the attack as he had earlier arrived Baga through a Naval chopper
A source at the Borno State to prepare for the planned return of internally displaced persons from Maiduguri to the camps in Baga.

The governor left Maiduguri with a comitatus of armed soldiers, police officers and Civilian Joint Task Force personnel.

Friday’s attack is the second of such targeting the convoy of arguably one of the best serving governors in Nigeria around the Baga area.
