A global recall has been issued for nearly 200,000 Jeep Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) due to a fire risk.

While the recall primarily affects vehicles in the United States (US), Nigerian owners of the affected models may also be impacted.

The recall affects 2020-2024 Wrangler 4xe and 2022-2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe models.

Although local authorities and Jeep dealerships in Nigeria have yet to comment on the recall, owners are advised to take precautions and contact their local dealerships for more information.

Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, estimates that 5 per cent of vehicles are affected, and the fire risk decreases when battery levels are low.

Owners are warned to park away from structures and other vehicles until a remedy is found.

Fortunately, reports added that a remedy is imminent, and owners will be notified when to bring their vehicles in for servicing.
