Abdulfattah Durojaiye, a United States-trained Nurse and Clinical Scientist from Ogun State, declared his intention to run for president in 2023 on the Peoples Redemption Party platform, promising to reform the police and military to end security challenges.

The 53-year-old national leader of the United Nigeria Movement for Change made the remarks during the PRP’s national convention in Abuja.

He stated that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), has no reason to refuse signing the Electoral Amendment Bill in order to ensure that people like him can contest in a fair electoral process.

“I believe the President will do the right thing on the Electoral Bill.” I believe he will want to do everything possible for the country. Signing this Electoral Bill is the best he can do in his capacity. “I don’t believe he will purposefully derail the process that will bring someone like me into the country’s leadership,” he said.

According to him, his decision to run was influenced by the fact that successive governments have failed the country, and Nigeria has become more divided in recent years than it was during the civil war.

“We can see the situation of our country, and we can see today that Nigeria is more divided than even during the Civil War,” he said.

Our country is deteriorating. This is the time for men of conscience to step forward and save Nigeria.

“As President, I will live in Nigeria, be treated in Nigeria, die in Nigeria, and be buried in Nigeria, and that is what we will offer our people when they ask about state police.” Police work is done collaboratively. Crime, like police, is a local issue. We will have a lot of reforms, and one of those key reforms will be police reform; our judiciary will also be reformed.” Our military will be reformed.

“We intend to reform our military.” We are going to reform so many of our core critical areas so that we can deliver and have an efficient organization that we will be able to advance our agenda by the time we restructure when we reorganize and reform our police.” You will notice that all of these security challenges will vanish. The perpetrators are not genes; they are people.”
