Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of putting pressure on Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
VeryDarkMan claimed that the challenges faced by Dangote’s refinery have brought him close to tears. On Saturday, Dangote revealed that his $20 billion refinery at the Lekki Free Trade Zone received no government incentives and that he had paid $100 million for the land. He also alleged that various government regulations have hindered the refinery’s operations.
In a response video, VeryDarkMan criticized the Nigerian government, saying, “Tinubu’s administration has pushed Dangote to the brink. The economy is so tough that Dangote recalled warnings from friends about investing in Nigeria. He mentioned buying the land for $100 million, so why wasn’t he informed about a lack of crude oil before starting the project? And now, even with attempts to source oil from Brazil, he’s facing issues due to alleged licensing problems. The money used for the refinery, he claims, was public funds, not just his personal money.”
