On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered social media influencer and critic Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman, to be held in police custody.
The Nigeria Police Force arraigned Otse on five counts of cyberstalking. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, requested bail, but the prosecution asked for more time to respond. As a result, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon adjourned the bail hearing to May 29.
While the prosecution sought to have Otse remanded in prison, his lawyers successfully petitioned for him to be kept in police custody instead. Consequently, he was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
