Veteran Nigerian filmmaker, Kayode Peters, has been buried in an emotional ceremony held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Toronto, Canada, more than a month after his passing.
Peters, who was 49 years old, died on June 28 after a prolonged illness that was kept private from the public. In the weeks following his death, the filmmaker was honoured with multiple memorial events held in Lagos, Nigeria, and London, United Kingdom.

A tribute night was organised in his memory on July 29, drawing attendance from friends, family, and prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
A viral video shared online captured the somber moment when his body was lowered into the grave, surrounded by emotional loved ones and colleagues who had gathered to pay their final respects.

Two Suspected Kidnappers Gunned Down in Delta Community, AK-47 Recovered
Two suspected kidnappers have been killed by a joint security team comprising operatives of the Nigerian Army 63 Brigade, Asaba, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Delta State Police Command, and the Edo-Ogwashi Security outfit during a successful operation in Edo-Ogwashi-Uku Community, Delta State.
Other members of the gang reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds during the raid.
