Scans flagged an issue after the striker completed medicals, so AC Milan paused talks over the proposed €5m loan with a €25m buy option from Bayer Leverkusen.
The club asked Leverkusen to lower the fee while it reassesses the deal.
La Gazzetta dello Sport says Milan expects a decision within 24 hours.
