In an exciting match, Nigeria’s Victor Boniface played a key role as Bayer Leverkusen clinched their first Bundesliga title by defeating Werder Bremen.

Manager Xabi Alonso gave Boniface his first start of the year, following his impressive performance in the Europa League victory over West Ham United.

Boniface opened the scoring for Bayer Leverkusen with a penalty in the 25th minute and later provided an assist for Granit Xhaka’s goal in the 60th minute.

Florian Writz extended Leverkusen’s lead with a goal eight minutes later, sealing the victory.

Boniface, who has been in impressive form this season with 18 goals and nine assists in 27 games across all competitions, was substituted in the 62nd minute for Patrik Schick.

His international teammate, Nathan Tella, also featured in the game for 62 minutes.
