The Okere Prisons in Warri, Delta state has been attacked by suspected hoodlums, Daily Report Nigeria can confirm.

The attack which occurred on Thursday afternoon, witnessed a heavy exchange of fire between the hoodlums and security operatives as the assailants tried to force their way into the correctional centre.

While sections of the centre was reportedly set ablaze, no fatalities have been ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

Unconfirmed number of prisoner also reportedly escaped from the centre in the middle of the gun exchange.

As the #ENDSARS campaign gather more momentum from around Nigeria, Correctional Centres have become the most targeted in recent attacks by suspected hoodlums.

The actions of hoodlums have forced various state governments to impose curfews on their citizens, with Delta becoming the most recent state to tow that path.
