VP Shettima Assures Nigerians Of Better Economy, Security,  Anti-corruption Fight

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including corruption, economic instability, and insecurity.

Speaking at the national conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria, organized by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development in Abuja, Shettima emphasized the administration’s dedication to improving the country’s democratic system.

“We will listen and adjust where necessary, and we will account for our stewardship in all matters our challenging democratic systems demand,” he stated.

Shettima, represented by his Special Adviser on political issues, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, acknowledged that democracy is not a perfect system but argued that it is superior to other forms of government.

“It has been said many times that democracy is an imperfect system, yet superior to all others,” he noted.

The Vice President outlined the administration’s key objectives, including fixing the economy, securing communities, fighting corruption, supporting free and fair elections, strengthening the independence of the judiciary, and improving national cohesion.

“I am convinced that Nigeria shall rise again, answer to its full potential, and lead the way to a future that has learned lessons from a difficult past into a world in which our country will be a key player,” Shettima asserted.

He urged Nigerians to support the current administration in its efforts to strengthen democracy and address the country’s challenges.

“We will continue to seek to provide evidence of the values of the democratic systems, The Bola Tinubu administration has a major interest in the quality of the democratic system,” Shettima added.

Tinubu, Shettima to Spend Over N9 Billion on Foreign, Local Trips,Refreshments in 2025 Budget

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are slated to spend a combined total of N9.36 billion on local and international trips, as well as refreshments in the 2025 budget.

This massive allocation is part of the N4.97 trillion appropriation bill presented by President Tinubu to the National Assembly.
