The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the start of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CBWASSCE) for private candidates, commencing on Friday, October 25, 2024. This new examination format will run until December 20, 2024.

In a statement released on Tuesday by WAEC spokesperson Adesina Fadekemi, the council detailed that the examination will utilize a hybrid delivery method. “The objective or multiple-choice questions will be presented on-screen, while candidates will respond directly on the screen. Essay and practical questions will also be rendered onscreen, but responses must be written in the answer booklets provided,” Fadekemi explained.

Candidates will have the option to choose a traditional paper-and-pen format if preferred. Additionally, the registration period has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
