Security operatives have apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Yahaya Zango, at the Hajj camp located near the airport in Abuja, according to a report by Daily Trust.
A security source at the camp disclosed that the suspect was arrested on Sunday during the routine screening of pilgrims scheduled to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj exercise.
Zango, who was reportedly residing in the Paikon-Kore area of Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), had allegedly been declared wanted over his involvement in a series of kidnapping cases.

“It was this afternoon during the screening at the hajj camp in airport when the DSS operatives apprehended him and whisked him away,” the source revealed.
The suspect was said to have presented his international passport and attempted to travel alongside other Muslim pilgrims from Abuja before he was identified by security officials.
A senior official of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, also confirmed the development.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, had yet to officially confirm the arrest at the time this report was filed, as calls and messages to her went unanswered.
