  • The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced that the Warri Refinery is undergoing a planned routine maintenance program aimed at ensuring optimal operations.

  • The company denied reports of an explosion at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company.

  • The routine maintenance, which began on January 25, 2025, is expected to be completed within the next few days.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced that the Warri Refinery is undergoing a planned routine maintenance program aimed at ensuring optimal operations.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, operations at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) were halted to carry out repairs for efficient service delivery.

The company denied reports of an explosion at the WRPC, stating that “any reports suggesting otherwise are completely false.”

Soneye explained that the maintenance activities, which began on January 25, 2025, are critical to ensuring the production of on-specification finished and intermediate products, such as Automotive Gas Oil and Kerosene.

The routine maintenance is progressing as planned, and operations are expected to resume within the next few days.

Despite the ongoing interventions, AGO loading has been maintained at an average of eight trucks per day, with a sufficient supply available to sustain ongoing truck load-out operations.

“NNPC Ltd remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted product supply and appreciates the patience and cooperation of all stakeholders as it completes these essential maintenance activities,” Soneye added.

IYC Tasks INEC to Speed Up Delineation of Warri Federal Constituency

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to speed up processes for the delineation of Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State.

The body made the call via a statement on Monday signed by the trio of Comrade Nicholas Igarama – Chairman, Comrade Ebi Joshua Olowolayemo – Secretary and Tare Magbei – Information Officer.
