He stated, “This stadium upgrade marks a major milestone for Delta sports. Given Peculiar Ultimate Consult’s impressive track record, I have no doubt that this facility will meet the highest standards and benefit generations to come.”

He also took a moment to thank Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for funding the project, encouraging the residents of Warri to rally behind the MORE Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure development. “I truly appreciate our governor’s steadfast commitment to sports development. This project is for every Deltan, no matter their age, gender, or background. Sports bring us together, and this facility will only strengthen that connection,” he added.

He described the renovation as a significant boost for Delta sports, aligning with the governor’s vision of providing world-class facilities for young athletes.

He explained: “This will be a multipurpose stadium featuring two practice pitches, a main bowl, swimming and diving pools, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, along with multipurpose halls for various sporting activities,”

Hon. Godknows Angele, the Commissioner of Housing, and Hon. Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyiniro, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government, praised the state government for putting sports at the forefront of their agenda.

They both highlighted that the renovation of the stadium would provide a vital space for young athletes to hone their skills and compete at a higher level.

Also present were Mr. Festus Ohwojero, the Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, along with senior officials from both the Ministry of Housing and the Sports Commission.

Once the upgrades are finished, the revamped Warri City Stadium is set to become a premier sports hub in Nigeria, fostering talent development and promoting sports excellence throughout the state.

This stadium, which previously hosted the 2006 Women’s African Football Championship and the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, was originally built to hold 20,000 spectators, complete with fully covered stands.
