The Delta State Sports Commission, under the leadership of Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, has officially kicked off the upgrade of the Warri City Stadium by handing over the project to Peculiar Ultimate Consult Limited.

This significant event took place on Thursday, attended by key stakeholders, including officials from the Supervisory Ministry, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government, and other notable figures.

Hon. Oborevwori emphasized the importance of timely project completion and expressed his confidence in the contracting firm’s ability to deliver a top-notch sports facility.

He stated, “This stadium upgrade marks a major milestone for Delta sports. Given Peculiar Ultimate Consult’s impressive track record, I have no doubt that this facility will meet the highest standards and benefit generations to come.”

He also took a moment to thank Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for funding the project, encouraging the residents of Warri to rally behind the MORE Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure development. “I truly appreciate our governor’s steadfast commitment to sports development. This project is for every Deltan, no matter their age, gender, or background. Sports bring us together, and this facility will only strengthen that connection,” he added.

Hon. Godknows Angele, the Commissioner of Housing, and Hon. Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyiniro, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government, praised the state government for putting sports at the forefront of their agenda.

They both highlighted that the renovation of the stadium would provide a vital space for young athletes to hone their skills and compete at a higher level.
