WASSCE: Delta Issues Three Years Ban to 41 Teachers Over Malpractice

The Delta State Government under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has banned Forty-one (41) teachers from supervising school examinations for the next three years.

Delta Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Patrick Ukah meted out the punishment to the affected teachers over alleged infractions during the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

Ukah through a released statement noted that the disciplinary measure was recommended by the Examination Ethics Disciplinary Committee of Delta state.

According to Mr Ukah, the affected teachers are to suffer deferment of promotion by one year and in addition banned from any school examinations supervision for a period of three years.

“I have directed the Post-Primary Education Board to implement the deferment of promotions by one year for the 41 affected persons.

Principals and examination officers of 13 public secondary schools and one private secondary school indicted for examination malpractice are to be issued with letters of warning by PPEB to desist from acts of negligence,” Mr Ukah said.
