The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially ordered Oleksandr Usyk to defend his WBO heavyweight title against Joseph Parker in a mandatory bout.

The two fighters have 30 days to finalize an agreement before the WBO initiates a purse bid process.

Joseph Parker’s Rise: From Underdog to Title Contender

New Zealand’s Joseph Parker, 33, has re-established himself as a top heavyweight contender.

His second-round knockout of Martin Bakole in February secured his position as the WBO interim champion and extended his winning streak to six fights.

Notably, his recent success includes a victory over former WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

Parker is no stranger to the WBO title, having won it in 2016 against Andy Ruiz Jr. and successfully defending it twice before losing to Anthony Joshua in 2018.

After a setback against Joe Joyce in 2022, Parker has rebuilt his career, making a strong case for another title shot.

👑 Usyk’s Heavyweight Reign: Can Parker Stop Him?

At 38 years old, Oleksandr Usyk remains undefeated (23-0, 14 KOs) and holds the WBC, WBA (Super), and WBO heavyweight titles.

His back-to-back victories over Tyson Fury, the latest in December 2024, solidified his dominance in the division.

Usyk’s last few fights have taken place in Saudi Arabia, which has become the home of major heavyweight clashes.

His two victories over Fury were both staged in Riyadh, further elevating the region’s reputation as a boxing hub.

⚖️ The Heavyweight Chessboard: What Happens Next?

While Usyk and Parker enter negotiations, another major contender is lurking—Britain’s Daniel Dubois.

The IBF heavyweight champion was originally scheduled to face Parker on February 22 but withdrew due to illness.

Instead of rescheduling, Dubois is pushing for an undisputed title fight with Usyk.

Dubois’ recent victories, including a knockout win over Jarrell Miller and a stoppage of Filip Hrgovic, have positioned him as a serious threat in the division.

However, with the WBO now prioritizing Parker, the timeline for an Usyk vs. Dubois clash remains uncertain.

🥊 The Countdown Begins: Who Will Prevail?

With negotiations officially underway, boxing fans are eager to see if Usyk will continue his reign or if Parker can reclaim his former glory.

Parker’s camp, led by trainer Andy Lee, believes his youth, power, and hunger give him a legitimate shot at dethroning Usyk (Boxing News 24).

As the 30-day deadline approaches, the anticipation builds for a fight that could reshape the heavyweight landscape.

Will Parker complete his redemption story or will Usyk cement his legacy as one of boxing’s all-time greats?

Stay tuned for updates!
