Kira Rudik, a female Ukrainian parliamentarian, has taken up arms, vowing to aid her country’s military in its fight against Russia.

Rudik, a Ukrainian parliamentarian currently in Kyiv, told CNN that transitioning from working as a member of parliament to fighting as a soldier on the front lines is strange.

Under the threat of a Russian attack, she said, “Then you know you have to do something.”

“You understand that you must form a resistance group, which we did, and that we are now assisting our army in fighting Russian soldiers who are currently attempting to take Kyiv as we are speaking,” she said.

According to Rudik, this is the “new reality.”

“We’re not going anywhere.” “This is our town and our country, and no Putin troops will tell us how to live,” she added.
