The Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid during a press conference on Sunday, October 31 said the gunmen attacked a reception which was taking place at the Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar Province.

He further said no one was allowed to kill anyone for playing music, adding that investigations will begin so as to establish if the incident was due to a personal problem or disagreement.

“In the ranks of the Islamic Emirate no one has the right to turn anyone away from music or anything, only to try to persuade them. That is the main way,” Mujahid told the press conference, according to AFP.

Mujahid in a post on his Twitter handle, said the suspects had claimed to be Taliban members, and demanded that the music be stopped before opening fire on the victims.

He also added that two person who were connected to the incident had been arrested, but the third had escaped.
