Multi-award winning Nigeria musician, Davido has disclosed why he created ‘Are We African Yet? (AWAY) Festival.
The ‘Unavailable’ crooner, in a trending interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, made it known that he created the festival to provide a platform for upcoming artistes.
He said: “Why I want to do this is because when I was going out in America and I hear a song, I am like, ‘this is an African song.

“So I was excited and told my friends that this is a young guy that is coming up. I hit the young guy up that I was in the club last night and they played your song. He was like, no way!
“So I want to give those types of people the opportunity to come every year, at different times to perform.”
