The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is currently leading protests in various parts of the country, including Lagos and Abuja, to address the growing hunger crisis and minimum wage concerns.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero has highlighted the critical issues of hunger and poverty that have arisen due to the current situation in Nigeria, which has led to “absolute hunger.”

The NLC has been urging the government to take action and implement necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of the Nigerian people.

Ajaero also pointed out that the government failed to consider the proposals put forth by the NLC following the removal of fuel subsidies, and the situation has worsened since deregulation.

He stated that the NLC-led protests are centered around the need to address the pressing issues of hunger and minimum wage concerns.

The government has not addressed transportation, cash transfers, and wage awards which are crucial contributors to the rising levels of hunger and poverty in Nigeria.

The NLC President stressed that the protests are a collective effort to draw attention to these issues and encourage the government to take action.

He added that the NLC is calling for decisive action from the government to implement the necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of the people.
