Why Senate Didn't Confirm El-Rufai, Okotete and Danladi as Ministers

The Nigerian Senate on Monday confirmed 45 out of 48 ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that those screened and confirmed by the Red Chamber included former governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Bello Metawalle (Zamfara), Simon Lalong (Plateau) and a host of others.

However, former governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, former NEXIM Bank Managing Director, Stella Okotete and Senator Abubakar Danladi were excluding from the confirmed list.

According to the Nigerian Television Authority, “Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Stella Okotete of Delta State and Sani Danladi of Taraba State yet to be confirmed as they are still under security check.”

For El-Rufai, a couple of petitions including led by that of Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) were presented against the former governor during his screening.

Karimi had filed a petition against El-Rufai over allegations bordering on “security, unity, and cohesiveness of the Nigerian nation.”

On the other hand, Danladi has petition about a court judgment restricting him from holding public office for 10 years.

Meanwhile,Okotete has a number of petitions against her bordering on non-disclosure of assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau.
