The political crisis in Rivers State has taken a dramatic turn as former Governor Nyesom Wike has accused his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, of being responsible for the ongoing violence in the state.

In an exclusive interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike alleged that Fubara’s actions have led to the breakdown of law and order in the state.

“A situation whereby verdicts of the court are disregarded would lead to the invitation of anarchy, No person who believes in peace and stability of any nation will say he supports violence, will say he wants to support destruction, will say he doesn’t want people to live in harmony,” Wike said.

Wike emphasized the importance of respecting the rule of law and obeying court judgments to prevent chaos and destruction.

“I was a governor and I have always obeyed the rule of law. You must respect the rule of law, the judgment of the court. It doesn’t matter how you see that judgment. The moment you don’t obey judgment, you’re inviting anarchy and violence.”

Wike also criticized Fubara for allegedly saying he doesn’t need police and protection of lives and property.

“When someone says he doesn’t need police and protection of lives and property, he’s inviting anarchy. The governor is the architect of the violence. A governor came out on national television and said he won’t obey court judgement. He went as far as to say he doesn’t need police and protection of lives and property. That’s an invitation to anarchy.” He added.

The accusation comes as the political tension in Rivers State continues to escalate, with many calling for calm and restraint.
