Claims Amaechi’s wife is benefiting from government contracts
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon Nyesom Wike, has accused former Minister of Transportation, Hon Rotimi Amaechi, of deceit and suggested he has a “spiritual problem” for claiming he owns no houses despite holding top political offices for years.
Wike made the remarks on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night, responding to Amaechi’s comments that he has no properties because he is not corrupt.
The FCT Minister dismissed the claim, saying Amaechi owns a luxury house in Guzape, Abuja, that only the wealthy can afford.

According to Wike: “He said I have houses. Amaechi was Speaker for eight years, Governor for eight years, and Minister for eight years, and he does not have houses? Then he has a spiritual problem. Nigerians should know the kind of characters deceiving them every day, pretending.”

Wike alleged that Amaechi’s wife is involved in government contracts, insisting agencies like NPA and NIMASA delayed paying contractors because of her involvement. He stated: “I heard him say NPA and NIMASA have not paid contractors, yes, because they have not paid his wife, who is a contractor.”
The comments escalate the war of words between the two Rivers State political heavyweights, reigniting tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.
