  • FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has expressed sympathy for suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

  • Wike emphasised that he is open to peace, stating, “I’m open for peace,” and suggested that Fubara’s situation could have been avoided if he had listened to those who put him in power.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has responded to comments made by suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, expressing sympathy for him while also emphasizing his openness to peace.

Wike stated, “I told him ‘I don’t think you have the capacity to really make this peace because it’s very easy.'”

Wike’s comments come amid ongoing tensions in Rivers State, where Fubara’s supporters have been demonstrating and insulting those perceived to be opposed to the governor.

Wike questioned Fubara’s commitment to peace, saying, “Why? If you are making peace, your people are demonstrating every day, insulting people, how do you feel about that peace?”

Wike also suggested that Fubara’s situation could have been avoided if he had listened to those who put him in power.

He stated, “He doesn’t need to be under this kind of situation if he had listened to people who put themselves down despite all odds and said no, we will use him.” Wike reiterated his openness to peace, saying, “I’m open for peace.”
