Faction dissolves six state exco councils, begins wide-scale disciplinary actions
The factional National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday ratified the expulsion of three serving Governors — Gov. Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Gov. Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) and Gov. Dauda Lawal (Zamfara) — in a fresh escalation of the opposition party’s leadership crisis.

The faction also confirmed the expulsion of former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, ex–National Vice Chairman Chief Bode George, and the newly elected National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
The decision followed last Saturday’s PDP national convention in Ibadan, where Wike and his allies were suspended over alleged anti-party activities. The Ibadan bloc accused the FCT minister’s group of plotting to undermine the party structure ahead of a major nationwide reorganisation drive.
Tensions peaked on Tuesday when both factions stormed the PDP National Secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, to hold parallel NEC and Board of Trustees meetings.
The confrontation spiralled into chaos as supporters clashed, forcing security operatives to shut down parts of the complex to restore order.
Inside its own session, the Wike-backed NEC dissolved the PDP state executive councils in Oyo, Bauchi, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos and Ekiti, directing that caretaker committees be immediately constituted to run the affected states before fresh congresses are organised.

A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, read by the faction’s National Secretary, Sen. Sam Anyanwu, said the NEC received a report from the Acting National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, outlining alleged breaches of Articles 58(1) and 59(1) of the party constitution. The infractions cited include anti-party activities, flouting court orders, and conduct capable of bringing the party into disrepute.
The faction approved full disciplinary procedures against several high-ranking members, including:
Adolphus Wabara, Olabode George, Ben N. Obi, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, Bala Mohammed, Oluseyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, Taofiq Arapaja, Setonji Koshoedo, Okechukwu Obiechina Daniel, Woyengikuro Daniel, Mohammed Kadade Suleiman, Emmanuel Ogidi, Sumaila Adamu Burga, Umar Sani, Udom Emmanuel, and Emmanuel Enorden.
The PDP crisis — now marked by expulsions, suspensions, parallel meetings, and violent confrontations — shows no sign of abating as both factions continue to claim legitimacy over the party’s national leadership.
